No Buy 2025 – My 2025 Financial Vision Board
Hey Bebe,
A New Year always means a new opportunity to get right with my personal finances. For me, that means joining the “No Buy” trend. I learned about the “No Buy” year from TikTok and I’m excited to put my own twist on it. I invite you to join me (in whatever way works for you!). For me, this isn’t about deprivation; it’s about intentional spending, aligning my money with my values, and building the financial future I truly desire. It’s about creating a financial vision board that reflects my truest, deepest desires.
Why a No Buy Year?
Let’s be real, as women, we’re bombarded with messages telling us to buy, buy, buy! Whether it’s the latest fashion trend, the “must-have” gadget, or the pressure to keep up with appearances, it’s easy to get caught in a cycle of overspending. For me, as a mom, professional, and everything else in between, it’s about prioritizing what truly matters. It’s about breaking free from the consumerism that often disproportionately targets us.
A No Buy year isn’t about denying myself everything. It’s about:
- Mindful Spending: Consciously deciding where my money goes.
- Debt Reduction: Accelerating my debt payoff journey.
- Saving and Investing: Fueling my long-term financial goals.
- Appreciating What I Have: Cultivating gratitude for my current possessions.
- Aligning My Spending with My Values: Supporting businesses and causes that resonate with me.
My 2025 Vision Board – The “Why” Behind My No Buy
A vision board isn’t just pretty pictures; it’s a powerful tool to visualize your goals and keep you motivated. Here’s what’s on mine, and how it connects to my No Buy year:
I added everything I truly want and desire on my vision board. When it’s time for me to make a decision about spending money, I ask myself “is this on my vision board?” Most of the time the answer is NO. Then I go from there.
What My No Buy Year Actually Looks Like
Here are the specific areas I’ll be focusing on:
- Clothing/Accessories: I’m only replacing essential items that are worn out or broken. No impulse buys or keeping up with trends.
- Makeup/Beauty Products: I’m using up what I have before buying anything new. I’ll allow for essential replacements.
- Dining Out/Takeout: I’m significantly reducing how often I eat out. I’ll focus on cooking at home and meal prepping.
- Entertainment/Experiences: I’ll be seeking out free or low-cost activities and prioritizing experiences over material possessions.
- Transportation: I will use Uber for emergencies and planned trips ( like the airport).
What I Will Be Spending On:
- Essentials: Groceries, toiletries, household necessities.
- Bills: Rent/mortgage, utilities, insurance.
- Debt Payments: Actively working to pay down debt.
- Investments: Consistently contributing to my investment accounts.
- Experiences: Budgeted travel and experiences that align with my values.
- Supporting Black-Owned Businesses: I will continue to support Black-owned businesses where possible, especially for essential items.
Join Me!
I’m not suggesting everyone needs to do a full No Buy year. But I encourage you to consider how you can be more intentional with your spending in 2025. Maybe it’s a “No Spend Month,” focusing on one category, or simply becoming more mindful of your purchases.
