How to Accomplish a Goal

How to Accomplish a Goal

Doing something you said you were going to do for YOU is one of the greatest feelings in the world.

Aleicia

I spent years feeling unaccomplished because I never met my own expectations. Although I received praise and accolades from work and school, I never felt satisfied with my own outcomes. I knew I could do better, but I never did.

In 2018, I started the long journey of making myself proud. That year was one of the hardest years of my life. My life was in shambles and I hit my personal rock bottom. I made major changes in my life and didn’t stop until I was truly proud of myself.

That year I set 25 goals. I accomplished 5 of the 25 goals, but I learned a valuable lesson.

The 5 goals I accomplished that year were the goals that I simplified into systems and added to my every day life.

For example, one goal was to do more Mommy/Me activities. At the beginning of every month, I would research various inexpensive, kid friendly activities. Then I would plan out one of those activities and invite some of my Mommy friends. At the end of the year, my son and I had went to 23 different activities. I was so proud of myself because I accomplished my goal exactly how I planned.

Now when I want to accomplish a goal I follow these steps

  1. Dream- Make sure you are not selling yourself short. Don’t undervalue yourself or your abilities.
  2. Write down Goal- Write down your numbers based goals (example- Save $1,000 by December 31, 2022 )
  3. Break down your goal- Write down the specific steps needed to accomplish the goal (example- Figure out savings amount/frequency, Open separate bank account, Set up automatic transfer)
  4. Add systems to your goal- Designate a specific time of the week you will work on goal ( example- Mondays at 1pm for 1 hour)
  5. Celebrate- Don’t forget to celebrate your accomplishments

These steps can be applied to any and every goal you want to accomplish.

The 2022 Goal Breakdown Worksheet was designed to help you go through these steps with your own goals.
